Amazon has launched a new Youth Council in partnership with the UAE Federal Youth Authority, aiming to support the career growth of young Emirati professionals working across Amazon and AWS in the UAE.

The announcement came on Wednesday, timed to International Youth Day.

What the Council Will Do

The Amazon Youth Council brings together young Emirati employees from across Amazon's operations and AWS in the UAE. Its focus is on empowerment and development, delivered through mentorship opportunities, technology training, skill-building workshops and knowledge-sharing seminars.

Beyond internal development, the Council is also meant to drive community impact. This includes volunteer initiatives and programs designed to support cultural integration within the company.

A Youth Day Celebration in Dubai

To mark the launch, Amazon held a Youth Day activation at its Dubai office. The event featured an entrepreneur showcase alongside a business and innovation competition, with booths dedicated to culture, wellness, sustainability and artificial intelligence.

Hundreds of Amazon employees took part, engaging directly with Emirati-owned businesses through the various activities on offer.

Why This Partnership Matters

Ronaldo Mouchawar, Vice President of Amazon for the Middle East, Africa and Turkey, said the initiative reflects a broader company philosophy. "At Amazon, we believe in the power of continuous learning and curiosity to unlock potential, and the Amazon Youth Council brings that spirit to the next generation of Emirati talent," he said. "The Amazon Youth Council reflects our commitment to empowering Emirati youth through learning, innovation and meaningful career development opportunities, while celebrating the culture and values that make the UAE unique. Together with the Federal Youth Authority, we look forward to creating lasting impact for the next generation of leaders, innovators and changemakers."

Jassim Al Obaidli, Director of the Youth Interaction Department and Head of the Youth Councils Network at the UAE Federal Youth Authority, framed the launch as an example of effective public-private collaboration. "The launch of the Amazon Youth Council represents the power of meaningful collaboration between the public and private sectors in creating opportunities for young people," he said. "By combining Amazon's global expertise with our shared commitment to youth empowerment, we are equipping Emirati youth with the skills, experiences and confidence they need to shape the future and contribute to the UAE's continued growth and success."

For Amazon employees in the UAE, the Council offers a formal structure connecting company resources with national youth development priorities, positioning young Emirati staff at Amazon and AWS to take on greater roles as the company continues to grow its presence in the country.
