Aster DM Healthcare has agreed to invest in International Modern Hospital (IMH), a 116-bed multi-specialty facility in Al Mankhool, Dubai, in a move that will expand its UAE hospital network to 11 facilities. The deal is still subject to regulatory approvals.

For Dubai residents, the transaction means one of the city's longer-standing hospitals, operating since 2005, will come under the umbrella of one of the UAE's largest private healthcare groups. IMH brings 116 beds and 39 outpatient clinics into Aster's network, adding to its existing UAE capacity of 399 beds.

What Aster currently operates in the UAE

Aster runs 10 hospitals, 112 clinics and 310 pharmacies across the UAE. The IMH deal is part of a broader plan under which Aster intends to invest more than Dh1 billion over the next five years to expand healthcare services in the country.

Integrating IMH into Aster's network

Alisha Moopen, managing director and group chief executive for the GCC, said the acquisition is a step in Aster's UAE growth: "The addition of International Modern Hospital marks an important step in Aster's growth journey in the UAE. The investment will further enhance IMH's operations and quality of services, while preserving IMH's legacy and contributing to the objectives of the Dubai Social Agenda 33."

The deal, once cleared by regulators, will mark another step in consolidation among Dubai's private hospital operators as Aster continues to expand its footprint across the emirate and the wider UAE.
