Investors using baraka can now trade shares listed on the Dubai Financial Market and Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange directly from the same account they use for US stocks, the DIFC-based, DFSA-regulated platform has announced.

The move gives eligible customers a way to buy into UAE-listed companies without opening a separate account, with local investments funded in AED. Stocks already drawing interest from baraka customers include Emaar Properties, ADNOC Gas and Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank.

Who can use it

baraka is available to residents and citizens aged 18 and above across the GCC, downloadable through the Apple App Store and Google Play. Customers from more than 100 nationalities can now access UAE-listed companies through the same account used for US markets.

UAE stocks bought through baraka are held in customers' names, with Emirates NBD acting as custodian.

The addition of DFM and ADX stocks builds on baraka's existing offering, which already spans UAE and US securities, options trading, Sharia-compliant investments and precious metals.

Why it matters for portfolios

baraka said the update is aimed at helping customers combine global exposure with investments closer to home. "Bringing DFM and ADX stocks to baraka means our customers can build portfolios that reflect both global opportunities and the economic champions of the place they call home," the company said.

It added that the integration is designed to simplify how local equities fit alongside other holdings: "The integration with baraka enables investors to incorporate local stocks more seamlessly into diversified portfolios alongside other asset classes."

For UAE-based investors, the change removes a common friction point: previously, building exposure to both US and local markets often meant juggling multiple platforms or accounts. With DFM and ADX shares now sitting inside the same app used for US trading, baraka is positioning itself as a single point of access for investors who want both international names and companies tied directly to the UAE economy.

The launch also reflects the platform's continued expansion since its DFSA regulation and DIFC base were established, adding a regional dimension to a product set that already included Sharia-compliant options and precious metals alongside US equities and options trading.
