Dubai Fitness Challenge will return for its tenth edition from 31 October to 29 November 2026, once again asking residents across the UAE to commit to 30 minutes of physical activity every day for 30 consecutive days.
The initiative was launched in 2017 under the vision of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. That first edition drew 786,000 participants, a figure that has grown steadily in the years since. Across its first nine editions, the Challenge has attracted more than 16 million participants in total, and by 2025 a single edition alone had drawn more than three million people.
A decade of the 30x30 model
The core idea behind Dubai Fitness Challenge has stayed consistent since 2017: 30 minutes of movement a day for 30 days, open to anyone willing to take part. What has changed is the scale and variety of ways people can meet that goal.
Dubai Run debuted in 2019 as the Challenge's first flagship mass-participation event. Dubai Ride followed in 2020, giving cyclists a citywide event of their own. In 2023, Dubai Stand Up Paddle brought the Challenge to the water, launching in Hatta's waterways. Dubai Yoga joined the roster in 2024, rounding out a programme that now spans running, cycling, paddling and yoga.
More places to take part
The physical footprint of the Challenge has expanded alongside its participant numbers. In 2019, organisers set up 11 Fitness Hubs across Dubai to give residents accessible points to exercise. By 2025, that number had grown to 30 Fitness Hubs citywide, reflecting the broader reach the event now has across the emirate.
Dubai Fitness Challenge is organised by the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism and the Dubai Sports Council, and the tenth edition builds directly on that groundwork rather than introducing a new format. For residents who have taken part before, the return of familiar fixtures like Dubai Run and Dubai Ride, alongside newer additions such as Dubai Yoga and Dubai Stand Up Paddle, means multiple entry points depending on preference and fitness level.
With the 2026 dates now set for 31 October to 29 November, residents have advance notice to plan around the month-long commitment, whether that means lacing up for a run, joining a cycling event, paddling through Hatta, or rolling out a yoga mat as part of the citywide push.
