Dubai International Airport (DXB) has joined the Dubai Mallathon for the first time, turning Terminal 3 into an indoor walking track for employees, travellers and the wider airport community.
The initiative, launched by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, is hosted at DXB by Dubai Airports. It marks the first time the Dubai Mallathon has taken place outside a shopping mall.
First session brings together airport community
The opening session at DXB was held at Terminal 3 Departures and included Dubai Airports employees, oneDXB community members, and People of Determination. Further sessions will continue at Terminal 3 every Friday throughout August, with the final one scheduled for 28 August to celebrate Emirati Women's Day.
Majed Al Joker, Chief Operating Officer at Dubai Airports, said: "We're proud to host The Dubai Mallathon in its second edition here at DXB. Demaithan Al Qamzi, General Coordinator of Dubai Mallathon, said hosting activities at Dubai International Airport is "a significant addition to the initiative, extending its reach to airport employees, the wider airport community and travellers."
A citywide movement with a record behind it
The 2025 edition of Dubai Mallathon drew more than 40,000 participants and recorded over 120 million steps across participating malls, earning a Guinness World Records title for the Most Runners in a Mall Run Event.
The 2026 edition is running citywide until 15 September across participating malls, with DXB now included as the first non-mall venue to take part.
For those working at or passing through DXB, the Friday sessions at Terminal 3 offer a way to take part in the citywide initiative without leaving the airport, fitting into shift patterns and travel schedules alongside the mall-based activities held elsewhere in Dubai.
