Dubai Police has issued a firm warning to residents ahead of the Eid Al Adha holidays: do not use fireworks, and do not trade or sell them during the festive period.

Authorities stressed that fireworks—often treated as harmless celebration—can turn dangerous without warning, threatening lives, property, and long-term health.

What police said

In the run-up to the Eid Al Adha break, Dubai Police told the public that activities involving fireworks during the holidays can cause serious accidents that endanger public safety.

The force highlighted that such incidents are not limited to minor injuries. They can lead to:

  • Severe burns and deep tissue damage
  • Amputations of fingers, hands, or other body parts
  • Permanent loss of limbs or function
  • Lasting disabilities that affect work, mobility, and quality of life
  • Threats to life and damage to property, including fires in residential areas

Police emphasised that fireworks may appear to be light entertainment during celebrations, but they can become catastrophic in seconds—for the person lighting them, bystanders, and neighbours.

The warning covers both personal use (including at home, in yards, or on streets) and commercial activity such as selling or distributing fireworks without authorisation.

Why the warning matters during Eid

Eid Al Adha brings dense gatherings, late nights, and children in shared spaces—conditions where unauthorised fireworks cause disproportionate harm:

  • Crowds increase the number of people exposed to a single mishap.
  • Children may imitate adults or pick up unexploded remnants.
  • High-rise and villa communities concentrate fire and blast risk near parked cars, balconies, and dry landscaping.
  • Emergency services are already managing higher call volumes for traffic, medical, and seasonal incidents across the UAE.

Dubai routinely reinforces public safety messaging before major holidays. The 2026 Eid message aligns with broader UAE readiness, including ambulance teams placed on high alert for holiday emergencies and traffic and security plans activated for the Eid rush.

Legal and safety context in the UAE

Fireworks and similar pyrotechnics are strictly controlled in the UAE. Unauthorised import, sale, possession, or use can result in , depending on the emirate and circumstances.
