Fortis Digital Solutions has partnered with Paymob to bring its SmartPOS software to Paymob's payment terminals across the UAE, giving merchants a way to run a fuller point-of-sale system without buying new hardware.

The partnership means Paymob terminals, previously used mainly for accepting payments, can now handle order taking, customer profiles, loyalty programmes, and daily sales tracking through SmartPOS. Fortis also provides a cloud platform that gives merchants real-time visibility into sales, orders, and inventory.

How merchants can get it

New Paymob customers can activate SmartPOS as part of their onboarding process. Existing Paymob merchants do not need to replace their current devices either, as Fortis can install SmartPOS on their existing terminals remotely.

That detail matters for small and medium businesses that may want more tools but cannot justify the cost or disruption of switching systems entirely. A representative from Fortis or Paymob explained the thinking behind the move: "Many SMEs recognise the value of digitising their operations, but the complexity of adopting new systems can often stand in the way. By bringing Fortis SmartPOS to Paymob devices, we make it easier for merchants to take that step without a complete overhaul of the systems they already rely on."

Beyond payment acceptance

The partnership reflects a broader push to help merchants manage more of their business through the same device they already use to accept payments. As the representative put it: "Payments are just one part of running a successful business. Merchants already trust Paymob to power their payments, and with Fortis, we're building on that trust by helping them go beyond acceptance and take greater control of their operations."

The move comes as digital payment adoption continues to accelerate across the UAE, with merchants increasingly looking for tools that go beyond simple transaction processing. For businesses already using Paymob terminals, the addition of SmartPOS offers a path to consolidate operational tools, from tracking daily sales to managing customer loyalty, without the cost or downtime of adopting an entirely separate system.
