Rainstorms have been sweeping across parts of the UAE over the past few days, and the National Center of Meteorology says the wet weather is not done yet, with rain expected to continue into this week until Thursday.
The forecast points to afternoon showers across parts of the east and south, with some inland areas also likely to catch rain. It is an unusual pairing for this time of year: heavy downpours alongside searing daytime heat, with cloud cover doing little to bring temperatures down in most emirates.
In Dubai and Abu Dhabi, highs are expected to reach 46°C, with occasional cloud cover overhead. Fujairah will be noticeably cooler by comparison, topping out around 37°C, with partly cloudy skies and some heavy rain expected there as well.
What to expect through midweek
The rain is set to persist into Wednesday and Thursday, even as temperatures push higher in the capital. Abu Dhabi is forecast to climb to 48°C over those two days, while Dubai will sit slightly lower, at 45°C to 46°C. Ras Al Khaimah, Dubai and Abu Dhabi are all expected to see partly cloudy conditions through the period.
For residents, it means an unpredictable few days: bursts of rain in the east and south, humid, cloud-flecked skies in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, and little relief from the heat despite the showers. Anyone heading toward Fujairah or Ras Al Khaimah should keep an eye on conditions given the heavier rain forecast for those areas.
