The Roads and Transport Authority has completed upgrades on a 1.1-kilometre stretch of Al Marabea' Street in Al Quoz, running from the Al Khail Road exit to Al Asayel Street, a project designed to ease one of the area's busier traffic corridors.

The upgrade expanded the road's capacity by 30 percent, and RTA reports that traffic flow has improved as a result, with journey times during peak hours falling by up to 30 percent.

Intersection changes cut queues

As part of the works, RTA expanded a key intersection by adding a new traffic lane for vehicles travelling from Al Marabea' Street towards Street 16A. That change has reduced congestion and queue lengths at the junction by 50 percent, according to the authority.

RTA also installed modern lighting poles along the corridor, aimed at improving safety and visibility for drivers at night.

Why this corridor matters

Al Marabea' Street serves as a key link in Al Quoz, connecting Al Khail Road with Al Asayel Street. The area sits near Al Meydan, Business Bay and Downtown Dubai, making the corridor a regular route for commuters and residents moving between these parts of the city.

More work under way

The completed section is not the end of RTA's plans for the street. The authority is currently carrying out further upgrades on Al Marabea' Street, which include construction of a new service road alongside a continuous pedestrian walkway.

This next phase also involves creating a new access point at the start of the Al Khail Road exit leading towards Al Marabea' Street, intended to smooth the transition for vehicles entering the corridor.

RTA expects this second phase of works to be completed by the end of August 2026.

For residents and commuters who rely on Al Marabea' Street to move between Al Quoz and surrounding districts, the completed upgrade should already mean shorter waits and steadier traffic flow, with further improvements expected once the service road and pedestrian walkway are finished.
