Salik Company P.J.S.C., the exclusive operator of Dubai's road toll gates, has renewed its five-year contract with US-based tolling technology firm TransCore, extending a partnership that dates back to 2006.

The renewal was witnessed by H.E. Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Salik, and signed by Ibrahim Al Haddad, Chief Executive Officer of Salik, and Whitt Hall, Chief Executive Officer of TransCore.

What the renewed deal covers

Under the new agreement, Salik and TransCore will continue developing systems and technologies for tolling operations, while exploring artificial intelligence and advanced digital solutions. The partnership will also support Salik's expansion into parking payments and other existing and future mobility services beyond road tolling.

Salik expects annual operating expenses under the renewed contract to remain similar to previous years, ranging between 5% and 5.5% of total annual revenues.

The contract also introduces enhancements to Salik's contractual, operational and regulatory frameworks, with strengthened requirements covering sustainability, governance, cybersecurity, maintenance and business continuity.

A partnership rooted in Dubai's original tolling system

TransCore's involvement with Salik began in 2006, when the company contributed to the design and development of Dubai's original tolling system. That early work has evolved into the current arrangement, which Salik frames as a continuation of nearly two decades of technical collaboration.
