talabat has launched Open Door, a startup enablement programme designed to connect early-stage companies with real business challenges across its regional operations, giving UAE founders a direct route into one of the region's largest delivery platforms.

How Open Door works

The programme lets startups test their solutions in live commercial settings rather than controlled trials, with successful pilots able to grow into longer-term partnerships with talabat. Open Door will operate across talabat's eight MENA markets, with the first cohort beginning in the UAE this month. Rollouts in Oman and Bahrain are planned for later in 2026.

May Youssef, Regional Senior Director of Corporate Affairs at talabat, said: "Through Open Door, we are creating a clearer pathway for startups to engage with our business."

A robot delivery pilot in Dubai

As part of the programme, talabat has signed a memorandum of understanding with QuikBot, a Singapore-headquartered company that builds autonomous delivery robots for high-rise buildings. The pilot will run at Dubai Digital Park in Dubai Silicon Oasis.

Under the arrangement, talabat riders will hand off orders inside the building, and a robot will then complete the final leg of the delivery to the customer's door. The setup is designed to test how automation can work alongside existing rider networks in dense residential and commercial towers.

Why it matters for UAE startups

Open Door gives early-stage companies a chance to prove their technology within an established commercial operation rather than relying solely on smaller-scale trials. For founders working on logistics, automation or last-mile delivery solutions, the programme offers direct access to talabat's markets and infrastructure.

talabat says the initiative supports UN Sustainable Development Goal 8, which focuses on decent work and economic growth, positioning the accelerator as part of a broader push to link startup innovation with tangible economic outcomes across the region.

With the UAE cohort now underway and Oman and Bahrain set to follow later in 2026, Open Door marks one of the clearer commitments by a major regional platform to formalise how it works with startups, rather than treating pilots as one-off experiments.
