UAE Communities to Help Shape 55th Eid Al Etihad Events

The UAE is inviting residents to take a direct hand in shaping this year's Eid Al Etihad celebrations, through a series of touring community workshops that begin next month.

The Eid Al Etihad Workshops will run from September 10 to 24, with eight sessions held over 15 days in locations across the UAE. The first workshop takes place in Fujairah, including Qidfa, on September 10 and 11.

What the workshops involve

Each session is built around storytelling and creative exploration, giving participants a chance to share personal experiences and memories tied to the UAE and its national identity. Organisers say the ideas and contributions gathered during these gatherings will feed directly into how the 55th Eid Al Etihad is celebrated this year.

Eisa Alsubousi, Director of Strategic and Creative Affairs of the 55th Eid Al Etihad, said the initiative is meant to open up the celebration to the public rather than have it shaped from the top down.

"Eid Al Etihad is a celebration we all share, and our communities should have a place in shaping how we celebrate it. Through the Eid Al Etihad Workshops, we're bringing people together to share their ideas, get creative and contribute in their own way," Alsubousi said.

Why community input matters this year

By touring the country rather than centralising the process in one city, the workshops are designed to draw in a wide cross-section of residents and communities, giving people in different emirates a direct role in how the anniversary is marked.

Alsubousi framed the effort as a two-way exchange rather than a formality.

"It's about coming together, listening to one another and seeing what we can create when we celebrate our UAE together. We're excited to see the ideas and creations that come from these workshops and to make them part of this year's celebration," he said.

For residents in Fujairah and Qidfa, the first opportunity to take part comes on September 10 and 11, with seven further sessions to follow across the UAE before the series wraps up on September 24.
