Showers are expected to persist across parts of the UAE from Monday through Thursday, with the east, south and some inland areas seeing the bulk of the rain, according to forecasts from the National Center of Meteorology.
Despite the wet weather in those regions, the heat is not letting up elsewhere. Dubai and Abu Dhabi are both expected to hit highs of 46°C on Monday and Tuesday, with only occasional cloud cover offering any relief.
Fujairah stands apart from the rest of the country this week. On Tuesday, the emirate is forecast to see a comparatively mild high of 37°C, with partly cloudy skies and some heavy rain expected to move through.
The heat intensifies further as the week goes on. Abu Dhabi is forecast to climb to a high of 48°C on Wednesday and Thursday, while Dubai will see slightly lower but still punishing highs of 45°C to 46°C over the same two days, with partly cloudy conditions.
Ras Al Khaimah joins Dubai and Abu Dhabi in seeing partly cloudy skies on Wednesday and Thursday, part of the broader pattern of scattered cloud and rain affecting the country through the middle of the week.
For residents, the takeaway is a country split between two very different weather stories: soaring, near-record heat across the main cities, and pockets of rain and cooler air pushing through the east and south. Anyone travelling toward Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah or other eastern and southern areas over the coming days would do well to check conditions before heading out, given the mix of heavy rain and cloud cover expected there.
