The World Governments Summit Organization and the World Travel & Tourism Council have entered a strategic partnership designed to shape global dialogue on the future of travel and tourism, a sector with direct relevance to the UAE's economy and its role as an international travel hub.

The agreement aims to expand cooperation between governments and the private sector, and to support the development of policies better suited to respond to global transformations affecting the industry.

What the partnership covers

A Memorandum of Understanding formalising the collaboration was signed by Mohammad Yousef Al Sharhan, Managing Director of the World Governments Summit Organization, and Gloria Guevara, President and CEO of the World Travel & Tourism Council.

Under the partnership, the two organizations will exchange knowledge, expertise and international best practices. They will also work to strengthen public-private cooperation and to launch joint initiatives and projects related to travel and tourism.

The stated goal is to contribute to building a more resilient and sustainable travel and tourism sector, while giving governments and industry a shared global platform to discuss challenges and opportunities facing the sector.

Why it matters for the sector

Gloria Guevara said: "Through our collaboration with the World Governments Summit, we can contribute to developing policies that strengthen resilience, accelerate sustainable growth and unlock the full potential of travel and tourism as a key driver of economic growth, job creation and greater connectivity between economies and communities around the world."

The partnership positions the World Governments Summit as a recurring venue for this dialogue, bringing together policymakers and industry leaders to address issues facing travel and tourism on a global scale.

For the UAE, which has built the World Governments Summit into a platform for international policy discussion, the tie-up with WTTC adds a dedicated channel for tourism-specific cooperation between the public and private sectors, an area closely tied to the country's broader economic diversification efforts.

No further details on specific joint initiatives or a timeline for implementation were included in the announcement of the partnership.
